SPECIAL EVENTS 2026

STOUR GROUP MEETING

This year the meeting of a number of local WIs will be held by Haverhill Owls WI.

STURMER AND  DISTRICT WI BURSARY

From time to time we have offered free or low cost lessons to members and extend this to others in the local area.  These bursaries have included tai chi, flower arranging, mosaics, digital photography, water colour painting, yoga and Italian cookery.

CENTENARY TROPHY COMPETITION AND COMPETITION SHIELD

This  year our special  one off competition - the Centenary Trophy-  is a hand puppet (your own work).  It will be judged at the November  meeting -  trophy to be awarded  in January 2026.

We also award our Competition Shield in January of each year.  The member with the most points from our monthly meeting competitions receives a gift voucher and her name is affixed to the shield.  Members in second and third place also receive a gift vouchers.

FUNDRAISING EVENTS 2025

All welcome -  We are planning  a quiz night and a musical evening to raise funds for our WI.

We also plan an Open Gardens Day in the village again this year with refreshments and we hope all our keen gardeners in Sturmer will take part.  This will raise funds for the local hospice and the WI.

OUTING  - This year we will are having lunch at The Angel in Glemsford, visiting the Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Regimental Museum and the Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmunds. We also hope to take a tour of the Yum Yum Fudge facility in Woolpit.

GOING  GREEN -

Our Secretary is also a Climate Ambassador  for Suffolk West Federation of WIs. Green Hearts have been made to show our love for the planet.
