About Us
Ridgwell WI meet on the third Thursday of every month at 7.15 pm in the Village Hall. We are a small but supportive and friendly group of women from all walks of life, always ready to welcome new faces.
Our meetings cover a wide variety of topics and activities: sometimes we invite speakers and other times we get busy with more 'hands on' activities. There's something of interest to everyone.
Ridgewell WI has a long history and was first established in 1966. After a period of inactivity from 1976, it was reformed in 1984. The group has always been small but with a core group of committed women and, at one time, could boast that a former president became treasurer of the Essex Federation. In 2024, it was decided unanimously by our membership that a move from Essex to Suffolk West would be the best thing for the future of our group. Since taking this decision, we have been made to feel very welcome and are already very much at home in Suffolk West Federation.
If you are interested in becoming a member or popping along to one of our meetings to try us out, please get in touch. You can contact our President, Mandy Gurney, at president.ridgwellwi@gmail.com. If you have mobility issues and need a lift, let us know, and one of our members will be happy to help. Likewise, if you'd just like a friendly face to accompany you to our first meeting, let us know.
